About goraedu

An independent website with free practice for U.S. skilled trades certifications, built from official government sources.

Last updated

goraedu helps people prepare for the certification exams that U.S. skilled trades require, from refrigerant handling and commercial driving to workplace safety, electrical work and drone flight.

What we do

We write practice questions, study guides and simple tools for each certification we cover. Every answer and every fact links to the official source it comes from, usually the regulation itself in the Code of Federal Regulations, the agency that writes the rule, or the Federal Register. Next to each source we show the date we last checked it.

We cover a certification only when the rules behind it are published by a U.S. government agency (in the Code of Federal Regulations or on the agency's own site), because then every answer can be checked against the official text. Exams built on copyrighted codes or a private organization's own question bank, such as electrician, plumbing or automotive (ASE) exams, are not covered. Each certification page has a "Scope and sources" box that says what it covers and what it leaves out. The full list is on the certifications page.

Who we are

goraedu is an independent education website. We are not contractors, instructors, a testing company or a government agency, and we do not present ourselves as experts in any trade. What we offer is careful reading of the official rules, explained in plain English, with the source always one click away so you can check it yourself.

goraedu is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government agency or certifying organization. Certification names are used only to identify each exam. To get certified, you must pass the official test from the organization or agency that gives it.

How we keep it accurate

  • We only write questions whose answers are stated clearly in an official document.
  • We use AI tools (Anthropic's Claude) to draft and check our pages, and say so openly. How that works, and its limits, is on our methodology page.
  • We check every page against its sources at least once a year, and sooner when a rule changes.
  • We review error reports within 7 days and log every fix on our corrections page.

The details are on our methodology and question writing standards pages.
