Aviation mechanic major alterations, major repairs and preventive maintenance study guide

Appendix A to 14 CFR Part 43 sets out major alterations, major repairs and preventive maintenance. 43.3(a) says the items whose performance is a major alteration, a major repair, or preventive maintenance are listed in appendix A. This guide sets out the conditions the appendix attaches to each list (for example "when not listed in the aircraft specifications issued by the FAA" and "provided it does not involve complex assembly operations") and the qualifiers in individual items. It does not reproduce the full lists. For context it also quotes 43.1(d) on light-sport aircraft, 43.3(g) on pilots who may perform preventive maintenance, and 43.3(h)(5). goraedu does not train, test or certificate mechanics, and this is not an FAA test. Every point links to the regulation and quotes its exact words.
